One of the first private projects to get license from Government of Nepal to develop hydropower and the first hydropower with FDI from USA 2
Developed with 25% Equity and 75% Debt. 95% of the Equity from USA with 5% Equity from Nepal. Debt Financing was done by IFC and DEG with various other international financial institutions.

Currently 95% of the equity is held by Nepalese companies and 5% is still retained by a US Company

Project Agreement with Government of Nepal for development of the project and Power Purchase Agreement with Nepal Electricity Authority for sale of generated electricity

50% of project assets will be transferred to NEA upon maturity of the PPA. The entire project would be handed over to Government upon maturity of the Project Agreement and License.

Commercial Operation of the project was started from Jan 2001.
what we do
Bhote Koshi Power Company Pvt. Ltd. owns and operates the 45 MW Upper Bhote Koshi Hydroelectric Project, which is a Run-Of-River hydropower plant situated in Sindhupalchowk District of Nepal. BKPC also owns and operates the 25km 132kV Transmission Line connecting the project with the National Grid at NEA’s Lamosangu substation. The project is operated and maintained to international standards by BKPC’s own team of highly skilled personnel.
Along with project, BKPC also contributes a lot to the development and support of the local communities in the project vicinity by contributing to the local infrastructure, support in education and health, rural water supply, environmental protection, capacity building, etc.
